Families traveling with children will discover that Argentina, Chile and Uruguay are very kid-friendly and offer tremendous learning opportunities for everyone – whether outdoorsy or cultural.  Children can raft on an Andean river, horseback ride with working gauchos, ski in soft snow, play polo on a pony, or pick delicious grapes right off the vine. Your children can learn about fascinating indigenous populations, like the Mapuche, Guarani, Quechua-Aimará or Wichi people. They can visit a Pucará in the Humahuaca Mountain Pass, where the pristine remains of a 1,000 year old Andean village include stone homes, playgrounds, corrals, a necropolis, and the botanical gardens of the Tilcara people, untouched by the Spanish conquest 500 years ago.  They can see and learn about llamas, guanacos, ñandus, condors, carpinchos, caimans, and pumas at the zoo or in the wild.  They can discover the science behind icebergs, as well as the local myths that explain the turquoise color of glacier milk and the cerulean blue of the glaciers’ jagged peaks.  They can learn to make empanadas for dinner and flan with dulce de leche for dessert.  And best of all, the family can experience everything together.  Of course, if the parents want to go out for a romantic dinner, an excellent babysitter will be available.
