We have just returned from a fabulous five week journey in Argentina and Chile. Vanessa arranged an incredible itinerary and her project specialist, Molly Drane, made certain that every details was executed impeccably.
Vanessa timed our journey so that we were “in the right place at the right time.” We witnessed big fat male elephant seals protecting their harems on the beach near El Pedral Lodge at Porto Ninfas. The next day, Wendt, the proprietor there took us out in the ocean to witness the whales mating. That afternoon we saw the penguins protecting their almost ready to hatch eggs.
Vanessa made certain that we were saw springtime Patagonia at Eolo and Tierra Patagonia with new born sheep & guanacos. But it was still cold enough to enjoy an invigorating climb on the Morenos glacier. Vanessa sent us to the incredible Cliffs Preserve just as the springtime foliage was blossoming. What a location! And, the food!!!
When we first contacted Vanessa, she asked us to set aside an hour for a conversation about our travel objectives. We told her that we didn’t like crowds and preferred smaller hotels. We told her that we liked contemporary art and good food and wine (but weren’t crazy wineophiles). We told her we were interested in politics & history and had recently traveled in Indochina & India. AND – she played all this back as she built our itinerary!
The staff at the Algodon Mansion had our room ready when we arrived early in the morning in Buenos Aries from our overnight flight. Vanessa had arranged for us to meet several artists in their studio/homes. Another guide provided us with his expert journalistic perspective on the tumultuous contemporary history of this complicated country. In Mendoza our guide took us to private tasting at the top of the line vineyards. But also, we were invited to the home/studio of one of the most prominent Argentine artists – where we took tea & talked politics with the artist and his wife (a political science professor). Fascinating! Vanessa managed the itinerary to include the amazing sites on Easter Island and Iguazu Falls. Plus, she got us back to the Buenos Aries area in time to spend the weekend at the annual Gaucho Festival in San Antonio de Areco. The management of Estancia La Bamba arranged for their guests to all have curbside seats at the annual parade as well as a celebratory barbeque in town during the festival. The gauchos and their horses put on a wonderful show in their beautiful finery (the horses dressed in silver too).
These are simply the highlights. Everyday of our five week journey went like clockwork. Each of the local guides and drivers were professional. Our flights (all eleven of them) were all well coordinated (and mostly on time). Every one of the hotels were great – and the service was impeccable.
We are recommending Vanessa & Limitless Argentina to all our friends.
Now, our only problem is that Vanessa only works in Argentina & Chile…..what do we do for our next trip?!?!?
